First Polkadot Meetup Taking Place In Hanoi On October 18

HANOI — DOTinVietnam, the first meetup and workshop on Polkadot will take place on 18 October 2022 at Gem Ballroom, The One Building in Hanoi. Sponsored by Polkadot Event Bounty, DOTinVietnam aims at connecting projects and parachains built on Polkadot with the Vietnamese crypto community.

Polkadot And The Vietnam Crypto Market

Ever since its launch in May 2020, Polkadot has been making massive development inroads as a nominated proof-of-stake layer-0 network that promises to solve the blockchain trilemma. At the moment, Polkadot’s $7B market cap ranks 12th out of all cryptocurrencies whereas its development is always among the top active.

Nevertheless, the Vietnamese community’s awareness of Polkadot is still very much limited. Among 6 million Vietnamese crypto users, only 20K show strong interest in Polkadot by joining Polkadot Vietnam and PolkaWarriors Facebook groups. Meanwhile, only a fraction of high-quality developers in Vietnam is working on blockchain projects, and even a smaller percentage build on Polkadot. Given that Vietnam has the highest crypto adoption rate among users as well as a pool of 55,000 newly graduated developers every year, Polkadot should definitely pay attention to Vietnam as its strategic market.

DOTinVietnam Bridges The Gap

Organized by leading projects in the Polkadot ecosystem, DOTinVietnam is a half-day event consisting of one keynote speech and two panel discussions. In the opening keynote, Head of APAC Helena Wang will represent Parity Technologies to give an overview of the Polkadot ecosystem along with Parity’s plan to grow in APAC.

The program continues with the first panel discussion hosted by Helena Wang and features guest speakers from Moonbeam Network, Astar Network, Bit.Country, Unique Network, Phala, Litentry and CESS. Parachain teams will discuss why they choose to build on Polkadot and how they plan to onboard users, so that the audience understands the opportunities and challenges they will face if they choose to build on Polkadot.

In the second panel, RADA and AceStarter co-founders join DFG and Jsquare’s CEOs. Beside insights from Vietnamese builders on the Vietnamese market, the discussion will veer towards expectations for developers from two VCs’ point of view.
